Adam Green Talks Fun Hatchet 4 Pitch; Planned Meta End to the Franchise

It’s been nearly a decade since Victor Crowley came to life in Adam Green’s Hatchet, and to date two sequels have continued the bayou monster’s reign of terror. Will we ever see a Hatchet 4? Only time will tell, but Green did recently discuss his original plans for the fourth installment. Read on!

Green, who co-hosts the exceptional podcast “The Movie Crypt,” spilled the beans on the show’s most recent episode, and we tip our hats to Bloody Disgusting for bringing this tasty morsel to our attention. If the franchise creator had his way, Crowley would’ve gone out on a dark, meta note.

It plays with the idea of Victor Crowley actually being a real thing – I lied and said I made it up but I really stole the story and now he’s coming to get everybody who worked on the movie,” Green explains, revealing his Hatchet 4 idea. “But he doesn’t really look like he did in the three — he’s really scary; it’s a little more paranormal. I just figured to go out with a bang and make it real and make it grounded and make him terrifying and not campy would have been really cool.

Of course, the concept would’ve spelled the end of the Hatchet franchise, which is presumably why Dark Sky Films didn’t go forward with it. At the time of writing this, there are no current plans for another sequel, though there’s a good chance we haven’t seen the last of Victor Crowley.
