Given the success of this year’s remake of Friday the 13th (it did, after all, rake in a total domestic gross of $65 million), we figured we’d be seeing a sequel at some point. And now we know exactly when Friday the 13th Part 2 — the 13th film in the series — will be making its box office debut.

Shock Till You Drop has confirmed that August 13, 2010, is the date when Jason will be making his return to the big screen. Further, Damian Shannon and Mark Swift will return to write, and Derek Mears will absolutely be back to reprise his role as Jason Voorhees

**UPDATE:** On Box Office Mojo‘s holder page for the film, they’re calling it FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2 IN 3D — no big surprise I suppose since everyone and their brothers are jumping on that bandwagon. As producer Brad Fuller told Shock Till You Drop, “I can’t tell you anything about 3D because New Line has not green lighted the movie because we haven’t completed the script … Having said that I really hope they make it in 3D.

The Mears part makes me happy … the rest? As usual with these types of announcements, we’ll just have to hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
