Jersey Devil Film Leeds Raising Funds on Indiegogo

As cryptids go, the Jersey Devil is certainly one of the more creepy. The wealthy Mother Leeds, who was rumoured to have dabbled in the occult, became pregnant with her 13th child, saying, “Let this one be a Devil.” And sure enough, although the baby was born normal, it quickly mutated into a horrific creature that would wreak havoc in the Pine Barrens area.
Unlike other cryptids like Bigfoot, there have been very few films made about the Jersey Devil, but that’s all about the change as filmmaker Sam Mitchell, who has wanted to tell the story for a long time, is currently raising funds to help bring his vision to life. The film will also portray the creature as being a spirit rather than a physical monstrosity, an interesting new take on the legend. And as a New Jersey native, he’s perfectly suited to the task.
