Without question Maniac was one of the single greatest slasher films of the Eighties. It had everything we loved about the subgenre and it had it in spades. Another thing going for it was the stellar performance of the late Joe Spinell. Now Troma is set to unleash another Spinell slasher classic, The Last Horror Film on to DVD.

The film has been floating around in obscurity for a while now, but Lloyd and the gang are set to release it as a special Tromasterpiece edition on May 19, 2009. No word yet on the official specs but the DVD will be home to comprehensive interviews with Joe Spinell’s closest collaborators, Luke Walter (assistant to Spinell) and William Lustig. Dig on the trailer and cover art below, and don’t forget to pre-order yourself a copy by hitting the link at the bottom of this page!

While Vinny’s disturbing fascination grows, a mysterious killer begins slaughtering all people in Jenna’s entourage. Are the crazed fanatic and the psychotic killer one and the same? Will this be Jenna’s Last Horror Film.”
