GOTH-TOBER: A Gothic-Themed #MonthOfDread

It’s been over a year since Dread Central dropped our first 31-Day horror challenge. You know what I’m talking about; those lists of daily genre flicks that are a staple of the Halloween season. We didn’t know why monthly movie challenges were, for the most part, confined to October—especially since horror fans live every day like it’s Halloween!

So, every month, we released a new challenge with a new theme. We asked our readers to let us know they’re participating in the festivities by using the #MonthOfDread hashtag. Even though our first year is behind us, these curriculums remain relevant. If you’ve yet to join the fun, check out a recap of everything you’ve missed by following the link below.

July had a Camps and Cabins theme followed by Haunted August and we just wrapped Sequel September. This #MonthOfDread is GOTH-tober and we’ll be celebrating the genre’s greatest Gothic creepers. We’re including classic Gothic flicks, along with examples of American/Southern/Rural Gothic—and even a sci-fi Gothic!

Our ongoing mission is to create unique and inspiring curriculums for the truly devoted, so ask yourself: Are you a horror fan who lives every day like it’s Halloween, too? Do you have the gumption and the stamina to consume a new horror movie every day of every month? If so, feast your eyes on our 31-day horror challenge for October below.

Did your favorite Gothic horror movies make the list? What are some others that deserve a shout out? Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram! You can also carry on the convo with me personally on Twitter @josh_millican.
