There's not much that warms the heart of your old Uncle Creepy more than zombies, especially when they're contained within such a rich universe as the one created by Robert Kirkman in The Walking Dead. Which is why I'm ecstatic to report that a start date has been set for the filming of the pilot for Frank Darabont's The Walking Dead TV adaptation on AMC.
Though I personally was a little disappointed with Zombieland, most people really dug it, and it performed well enough at the box office to warrant a sequel. Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are working hard to make that happen, and when it does, you can expect all the usual suspects to return for another round of undead mayhem. But what else should you expect?
Just looking at these new stills from the new African zombie flick The Dead from co-directors Howard J. Ford and Jonathan Ford instantly makes the theme from Lucio Fulci's Zombie start playing in our heads. We can think of no higher compliment than that!
Here at Dread Central we're big fans of the sick and twisted Conor (Dead Meat, The Disturbed) McMahon so we thought we'd help him out with a little competition he's involved with over on Ireland's national broadcaster RTÉ for his web series "Zombie Bashers". Read on for how you can get involved.
Finally we have gotten our claws into the artwork and details for the Slamdance award-winning zombie opus I Sell the Dead (review here).
One of Dread Central's favorite corpse-themed collectibles is Sideshow Toys' line of The Dead figures, and today they provided their newsletter subscribers with a first look at "Undying Carcass", the next Premium Format Figure in the series.
Now that IFC is all set to release David Morlet's French horror flick Mutants on Direct OnDemand February 10th, we have gotten ahold of their new trailer for the flick, and it is indeed a tasty one at that.
Along with the upcoming sequel, a movie version, and a rumored six-part TV series, Seth Grahame-Smith's living dead laden take on the Jane Austen classic Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is set to be released in yet another form: a graphic novel from Del Rey with a May 5, 2010, publication date.
One thing I hate about Blu-ray is the damn region locking that plagued DVD. Before importing a disc, I've got to do plenty of research to ensure it'll work in my player, which sometimes leads to depressing news. While we have a pretty sweet version of Day of the Dead in high definition already thanks to Anchor Bay, today's announcement of a UK edition sounds even sweeter!
Now this is pretty damned cool! Well, in retrospect zombies in general are pretty damned cool ... including the animated variety, which will soon be seen in the upcoming flesh ripper A.D.!
With the release of the Zombieland DVD and Blu-ray (review here) right around the corner, we've dug up a preview of some of the disc's special features for you. Why? Rule #1: Always give your readers cool shit to look at and sift through.
As part of the festivities surrounding this Friday's kick-off of After Dark's Horrorfest 4, there will be a NYC Zombie Village Crawl with the meet-up scheduled for 5:00 PM on January 29th at Pie by the Pound, 124 Fourth Avenue.
According to the official IFC website David Morlet's French horror flick Mutants will be premiering on Direct OnDemand February 10th. Now you, too, can judge for yourselves whether or not it's worth your time.
Ok, so follow along -- First Capcom makes a zombie game loosely based upon George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead called Dead Rising, and now there's a movie, based on the game, that was loosely based upon the movie to begin with. See that? Nice and clear, isn't it?
