Zombie Walk
The 2011 Undead Festival took place last weekend (October 21-23) in Asbury Park, New Jersey, and Dread Central was on the scene. We've returned with an overflowing image gallery and the following day-by-day event report. Read on to see what you might have missed so you can make your plans to be there next year!
The producers of last year’s Guinness World Record breaking New Jersey Zombie Walk present the 2011 UNDEAD FESTIVAL ... because one day of zombie fun just isn’t enough! Alongside the world famous Zombie Walk, this year’s three-day event includes live entertainment, brand new movies to chill your bones, rows of vendors with spooky goodies, celebrities from your favorite horror films, and lots of free swag to take home! Here are some of the highlights...
Heads up, Upstate New York residents!!! Dread Central has been covering some fund-raising zombie walks from coast to coast. We've recently gotten wind of a new one to help Upstate New York victims of Hurricane Irene.
Last week we brought you up-to-speed on a zombie walk being organized in Hollywood to benefit local under-funded school districts (thanks, Governator). This week we go all the way across the country to Rosendale, New York, where the undead will again shuffle, limp and meander in the name of charity.
Though undead shamblers are technically dead, somewhere within their rotting carcasses a heart still beats ... if only figuratively. With the holiday season just around the corner, the dead would like to take this time to give back!
From the Press Release:
Some Canadian zombies are coming, and they want you to volunteer. No, not to be eaten, but to participate in their Halloween Walk. Actually, being zombies, it is technically more of a “shuffle”, but the concept is the same. And Mezco Toyz will be helping to support the Zombie Walk by supplying goodie bags to 150 participants and, for a limited time, giving a 10% discount on all orders that enter a special code.
The infection of twitching undead will surface in New Jersey once more. Saturday, October 3rd, be prepared for the New Jersey Zombie Walk & Fest! At 11am the madness begins...
11:00AM – Anatomy FX Presentation on zombie make-up effects and prosthetics
11:30AM – Professional Make-Up Panel demonstration featuring special guest artists
12:30PM – Award-winning zombie fiction author Brian Keene Presentation
Have an urge to walk with the dead? The fourth Old School Sinema Cleveland Charity Zombie Walk (or, OSSCCZW, if you want something easier to say), is set to take place Saturday, September 19th, in Lakewood, Ohio.
The event is being sponsored by the upcoming and very awesome looking Zombieland, and participants will have an opportunity to win tickets to an advance screening.
