If you weren’t aware, there is another reboot of Tobe Hooper’s 1972 masterpiece The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in the works from Don’t Breathe and Evil Dead director Fede Alvarez.
And today we’ve learned that the reboot has snagged a screenwriter in the form of newcomer Chris Thomas Devlin.

The last time we saw the series on the screen was in Inside directors Julien Maury & Alexandre Bustillo’s Leatherface. It was mostly a bust scoring a mere 30% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads, “Leatherface may wear the skin of a Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel, but it proves gutless as an origin story and finds little invention in the horror tropes it’s cannibalizing.”
That film centered on a violent teen (Sam Strike) and three others who kidnap a young nurse while escaping from a Texas mental institution. Pursued by a vengeful sheriff (Stephen Dorff), the disturbed young man embarks on a murderous rampage that shapes him into a legendary killer known as Leatherface.
Leatherface was directed by Julien Maury & Alexandre Bustillo from a screenplay written by Seth M. Sherwood based on characters created by Tobe Hooper and Kim Henkel. Christa Campbell produced along with Lati Grobman, Carl Mazzocone, and Les Weldon. It starred Stephen Dorff and Lili Taylor. Lionsgate Films released it back on October 20, 2017.
