‘Krampus 2’ —Director Michael Dougherty Shares Idea For Horror Sequel “About a group of strangers”

So many people only want to talk about Michael Dougherty’s sick Trick ‘r Treat horror anthology. Especially now when they are rightfully excited about that impending sequel. However, I always have to be different and think Krampus is a better movie. I have dreamed there would be another movie since I saw it in theaters. This is why I perked right up when Dougherty mentioned he has ideas for a sequel to this chaotic holiday horror movie.

Because Dougherty is teaming up with his Krampus co-writers, Todd Casey and Zach Shields, for Trick ‘r Treat 2, the K-word was bound to come up a few times. So, when Collider asked Dougherty about a continuation of the Christmas chiller, he replied, “We have an idea for a sequel on that one, too,” he continued, “It doesn’t necessarily center around a family as much as it might be about a group of strangers who are trapped somewhere.”

I would like to see this sequel that leaves the family and keeps the delightfully violent energy. As much as I loved the original movie, I think there is room to play in this universe. Let me give you a quick Krampus crash course as I shimmy from excitement.

In the film,

“While the holiday season represents the most magical time of year, ancient European folklore warns of Krampus, a horned beast who punishes naughty children at Christmastime. When dysfunctional family squabbling causes young Max (Emjay Anthony) to lose his festive spirit, it unleashes the wrath of the fearsome demon. As Krampus lays siege to the Engel home, mom (Toni Collette), pop (Adam Scott), sister (Stefania LaVie Owen), and brother must band together to save one another from a monstrous fate.”

In addition to co-writing Krampus, Michael Dougherty also directed the movie. It premiered in theaters in December 2015 and is currently streaming on Peacock.
