Splatterpunk icon John Skipp is working hard to bring new writers to the world, and may the old ones continue to love him for it! Read on for info on the latest release of his Fungasm line, Haunt.

From the Press Release:
Author/director/performer Laura Lee Bahr’s award-winning first novel Haunt has been released in a deluxe audiobook presentation by Fungasm Press, the genre-busting imprint run by horror legend John Skipp.

The story of a mysteriously murdered young woman and the men whose lives she taunts beyond death is described as a “brain-twisting bizarro noir hall of mirrors.”  And the audiobook, performed by Bahr and a talented team of actors, brings added dimensions to her evocative prose. Using gorgeous music, jarring FX, and cunning sound manipulation, it’s a lush and unusually engaging presentation.

“Haunt is the reason I formed Fungasm Press,” says Skipp. “It’s a brilliant book that doesn’t fit any neat category. So funny, so sad, so sweet and strange and creepy and genuinely one-of-a-kind. I knew Laura could read the hell out of it. And she does. But adding those extra layers took it to the next level of Lynchian coolness.”

“The way Haunt continues to incarnate kills me,” Bahr says. “Directing and reading the audiobook was like getting a new life with the characters. Then, last summer, it was released in Spanish by Orciny Press under the title Fantasma, and I got to travel there and participate in readings in Spanish. It’s like the ghost that keeps on giving.”

Bahr’s debut feature film as a writer and director, Boned, premiered in Toronto this fall, and her second novel, Long-Form Religious Porn, will be released February 8th by Fungasm Press. Meanwhile, Haunt debuts today on Audible, iTunes, and Amazon.
