As horror fans, we’ve all been affected by the works of Dario Argento. Whether it’s the phantasmagorical Suspiria or heavy metal Phenomena, Argento’s work has had a deep impact on the genre as a whole. Now, the horror master is getting a documentary dedicated to his creative process and influence not just on horror, but on cinema in general. Dario Argento Panico, directed by Simone Scafidi gives us an in-depth and intimate look at the filmmaker.

In the secluded ambiance of hotel rooms, Dario Argento crafted his greatest cinematic creations, seeking solace from the outside world to delve into his nightmares. Now, he finds himself in a hotel room to return to the very setting that ignited his creative fervor to conclude his latest script and participate in an intimate interview, all while being followed by a film crew documenting his life for a movie about his illustrious career.

Argento himself is interviewed in the documentary, as well as Guillermo Del Toro, Franco Ferrini, Gaspar Noé, and Nicolas Winding Refn.
Leading up to the film’s release, Shudder has partnered with the IFC Center to present “PANIC ATTACK: THE FILMS OF DARIO ARGENTO”. This series of films celebrates the works of the Giallo horror maestro. It screens Jan. 31st — Feb. 8th at the IFC Center and will feature the following films:
