A new green band trailer for the upcoming prequel horror film Leatherface has been released and can be seen below, courtesy of EW. While many might think that “green band” means they’ve taken all the good parts out of the trailer, I can assure you that it’s still rather vicious and intense!

The prequel has been rated R “for strong bloody violence, disturbing images, language and some sexuality/nudity.” It will be an exclusive DirecTV release on September 21, 2017, with a limited theatrical run and full VOD release through Lionsgate on October 20, 2017. Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury direct.

Stephen Dorff, Lili Taylor, Sam Strike, Sam Coleman, Vanessa Grasse, Nicole Andrews, Julian Kostov, Jessica Madsen, and Lorina Kamburova star. Leatherface was written by up-and-coming genre scribe Seth M. Sherwood.

Synopsis:
In Texas, years before the events of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, in the early days of the infamous Sawyer family, the youngest child is sentenced to a mental hospital after a suspicious incident leaves the sheriff’s daughter dead. Ten years later, the Sawyer teen kidnaps a young nurse and escapes with three other inmates. Pursued by authorities including the deranged sheriff out to avenge his daughter’s death, Sawyer goes on a violent road trip from hell, molding him into the monster now known as Leatherface.

Millennium Films, which was behind the 2013 Texas Chainsaw 3D, is once again producing with Christa Campbell, Lati Grobman, and Carl Mazzacone for Lionsgate.

Look for the film to have its premiere at FrightFest 2017!
