In Part One of our video interview series with Paranormal Activity creator Oren Peli, we chatted about the challenges of making a micro-budget indie horror movie and how he knew from the moment original co-stars Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat met that he had something quite special.
We also heard more from Peli about the much-publicized potential remake that DreamWorks and Paramount quickly nixed once they realized what kind of magic Peli and his PA stars had conjured up while shooting the flick back in 2006.
For Part Two of our exclusive video interview with Peli for Dread Central’s Indie Horror Month, he discusses the intricacies of the unique “Demand It” marketing campaign that Paramount launched for Paranormal Activity during 2009 as well as why he decided to take a step back from directing the highly successful PA sequels.
Peli also describes just how drastically his life has changed since making Paranormal Activity, including collaborating with one of the biggest names in the industry – Steven Spielberg – for the new ABC found footage horror drama “The River” and his plans to return to directing for a new project outside the realm of the Paranormal Activity world.
