After the first Saw was a rousing success with its theatrical release on October 29, 2004, writer/actor Leigh Whannell’s career took off in some major ways.
Not only did he go on to write two of the subsequent sequels to James Wan’s original Saw, he also penned Dead Silence for Universal in 2007 and went back to his indie roots for the 2011 box office smash Insidious.
During Part Two of our exclusive video interview with Whannell, he discusses how his life changed dramatically after the success of the initial Saw, his frustrations of working within the studio system during Dead Silence and how he wishes every production could go as well as it did while working with co-writer/director Wan on their first feature film endeavor together.
We also talk with Whannell about his return to the indie filmmaking world while working on Insidious as well as his thoughts on the future of independent horror in the wake of the technological advances over the last several years.
