Lionsgate just released the trailer for The Strangers: Chapter 1, and we assume they did it “because you were home.” After months of impatiently waiting we finally get a glimpse at the first film in this trilogy that will reboot the popular Bryan Bertino franchise. Check out everything we know about this highly anticipated film and watch the new trailer below.

The Official Synopsis Reads:

“Madelaine Petsch (TV’s Riverdale) stars as a young woman on a road trip with her fiancé. But when they stop at a remote vacation rental in the woods, they become the prey of a vicious gang of masked strangers who attack without warning or reason and must use courage and cunning to survive one long, terrifying night.”

The Strangers: Chapter 1 was directed by Renny Harlin (A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream MasterThe Long Kiss Goodnight). The script was written by Alan R. Cohen (The Freak BrothersDue Date) and Alan Freedland (Due Date). This new trilogy is based on The Strangers created by Bryan Bertino (The Dark And The WickedThe Monster).

The movie stars Madelaine Petsch (Polaroid, Riverdale), Froy Gutierrez (InitiationCruel Summer), Rachel Shenton (For Her SinsA Confession), Gabriel Basso (The Night AgentHillbilly Elegy), and Ema Horvath (The Mortuary Collection, What Lies Below).

I’m not going to lie, I’m starting to get a little excited to see what this movie brings to the universe. I loved the first movie and I watched the second one. While I know nothing will ever live up to The Strangers, I’m starting to think this one might be a good time in its own right.
