For almost 30 years now actor Michael Biehn has been a beloved fixture within the world of genre films (and outside as well), and his performances in movies like The Terminator, Aliens, The Abyss, The Seventh Sign, Tombstone, Jade, The Rock, Clockstoppers, Planet Terror and even last year’s thriller Bereavement have only further cemented his status as an icon of modern cinema.

Biehn’s latest work in Xavier Gens’ explosive apocalyptic flick The Divide is another example of just how truly badass the actor is. He portrays Mickey, a grizzly-natured landlord who ends up playing reluctant host to several tenants in his building’s basement after a nuclear bomb is released in New York City.

Dread Central recently had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Biehn about his performance as Mickey in The Divide wherein the actor discussed how the original character from the script was tossed out and he revamped Mickey alongside on-set writer Eron Sheean while the movie was filming. Biehn also talked about collaborating with his spouse, Jennifer Blanc-Biehn, on The Divide as well as how the group dynamic shifted in a rather dramatic fashion among everyone while making The Divide, eerily mimicking the tension audiences will see building throughout Gens’ story.

Dread also spoke with Biehn about his upcoming directorial debut, the grindhouse style flick The Victim, which was picked up for distribution by the good folks at Anchor Bay Entertainment last week.

Check out our exclusive interview with Biehn below, and make sure to check out The Divide (Fantasia 2011 review here) when it hits limited theaters this weekend!
