The zombie subgenre has seen a few ups and downs over the last few decades. Sure, the living dead are absolutely terrifying, but after a while, they’ve become a bit of a snore. However, director Henrik Martin Dahlsbakken is bringing a new spin to the genre with his film Project Z. His meta horror movie sees a group of filmmakers making a zombie movie when an actual zombie outbreak starts. So how do you figure out who’s an actor and who is really a member of the undead?

A group of film students takes three out-of-work actors to an old motel in the mountains to make zombie films. When a mysterious asteroid crashes nearby strange things begin to happen, blurring the line between fiction and reality. The undead have seemingly begun attacking the crew and they must fight for their lives—or is it a part of their story?
