Horror Returns to the Drive-In

Man, I miss drive-ins. Seriously. I got a small taste of them when I was younger before the one near the city I grew up in followed the country-wide trend of shutting down, and it’s a completely different kind of movie-going experience.
Thankfully, some crazy kids in Maryland, of all places, have made the first steps toward bringing it back to its heyday. Specifically the place is called the Hager Drive-In located at 20135 Leitersburg Pike in Hagerstown, Maryland. It’s worth a mention simply because the brains behind the Hager have dubbed Saturday nights, appropriately enough, “Horror at the Hager.” To date they’ve screened prints of Suspirira, The Howling, The Wizard of Gore, Evil Dead, Phantasm and a lot more. Gotta love it!
This weekend will be a double bill of John Carpetner’s The Thing and Chuck Russell’s The Blob remakes, two of the best examples of just how good a remake can be. If you’re in the area and want to see what the rest of the new generation will likely miss out on, be sure to check it out!
Admisssion’s only $5/person (cheaper than most matinees!) and kids under 3 get in free… not that we recommend bringing them to see any of the Saturday night programming. Check out the drive-in’s official site for more info!
