*UPDATED* McKee’s The Woods DVD Date

The folks at Sony have finally gotten off their asses and decided to put out Lucky McKee’s long-suffering The Woods (review) on DVD according to the folks over at DVD Active.

The Woods was originally scheduled for a theatrical release many moons ago, but the Sony/MGM merger caused all sorts of internal issues for the studio and got rid of some of the people who wanted to make sure the film got released. It was shelved with rumors popping up now and then about a theatrical release but nothing really solid being said.

Sony has announced that the film will bypass theaters altogether and finally come to DVD on October 3rd, 2006. A fitting time frame, surely; I just wish they would’ve given it a little more of a release than that… hell, even art house would have been nice. But we’ll take what we can get.

As you can see, we now have a look at the art (ugh) thanks to DVD Active and have learned that the features included will be a commentary with the director and stars, one deleted scene, and the featurettes “Girl Vs. Girl” and “Legend: On the Set with Bruce Campbell”.
