2008 feels like the year of the release date switch. Midnight Meat Train was one of those victims, but we're pretty confident the following two titles won't end up the balls of some insane studio juggler.

Universal
Goon Punching His Way to Theaters
Now this just makes me smile; THR got word this morning that Dark Horse, David Fincher and Blur Entertainment are joining forces to bring Eric Powell’s The Goon to the big screen as a CG-anmiated film. And damnit, I love The Goon.

Keep Busy with Hellboy's Website
Hellboy II: The Golden Army (review) isn't going to disappoint, that's for sure, and by the looks of things, the film's official site isn't letting down visitors either.

Mummy's Back Online
I finally saw the full trailer for The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor this weekend on the big screen, the way it was meant to be seen, and I gotta say it doesn’t look as bad as I’d feared. I mean, really, it’s a Mummy movie; as long as it’s fun, it’ll be worth the ticket.

We’ve been hoping for news on Paul Davis’ Beware the Moon: Remembering An American Werewolf in London to come out of last weekend’s Horrorhound Weekend, since the AWIL director and stars were there and Davis is a HorrorHound writer, and so our wish was granted!

Cohen's Latest Mummy Update
Our man Hunter just pointed out that director Rob Cohen’s updated his ongoing Mummy 3 blog with a status on the film, which is due to hit theaters August 1st. Believe it or not, everything has to be done on the film, at least on his end by July 3rd, but it’s not quite there yet.

Doomsday DVD Art!
Man, nothing irks me more than waiting and waiting to see the DVD art for a movie I’m looking forward to, only for it to just be the theatrical poster. So many good images from Doomsday and they just had to go with this again, eh?

April 3, 2009 may be a long time away for Joe Johnston's remake of Universal's classic Wolf Man, but the wait should be worth it. Benicio Del Toro alone makes up for it.
If you've been wondering just how close to the original this new venture will be, STYD got a hold of the official synopsis:

Uni Nabs Knights Templar
Imagine it; you're fresh back from fighting the Crusades, and all you want to do is chill at home and maybe hang with some ladies for a while. Then a damn vampire army has to show up and muck things up. See, this is why I hate bloodsuckers.

Creature From the Black Lagoon Update!
Though I guess it’s good to know things are moving along for the Creature From the Black Lagoon remake, which has been in various stages of pre-production for three years now, I can’t help but keep thinking about the Creature script I reviewed a while back and doing nothing but dreading it.
