Though I seriously doubt it’s anything close to what one would call hardcore horror, John C. Reilly as a vampire is not the kind of thing we get to report on every day, so how could we pass this up:?
The versatile actor has just signed on for the lead vampire in Paul Weitz’ Cirque du Freak for Universal, according to Daily Variety. The film is the first in a series adapted from an award-winning young adult books (wow, what a novel concept!) that follows a vampire who drafts a 14-year-old to serve as his assistant. The boy becomes a half-vamp and a catalyst in a war between vampires and Vampanese, whatever the hell those are.
The series spans 12 books, though I seriously doubt the films will as well. I guess the level of camp in this will really determine if it’s something we’ll be reporting on again, but man I can’t wait to see Reilly don a set of fangs!
