Helfi Kardit's Dead FloorJust last month we brought you news about a new experiment taking place in the world of film festivals (“Insomnifest Wants You” – November 2007). It looks like the first online-only film festival, Insomnifest, has already gotten its first entry.

Dead Floors, an Indonesian horror flick by Helfi Kardit, has become the first film to be publicly announced for the fest. I haven’t seen the film personally, but the trailer and synopsis below made me very interested…

Luna has just gotten her first job as a secretary for a major company in Jakarta. She’s got her own desk, new good friends and a seemingly friendly boss. There’s only one problem. Ever since Luna started working for the firm, she’s been having horrifying visions and she’s certain that something happened on the 13th floor of the building. However, everyone in the building claims that there isn’t a thirteenth floor, there’s not even a button for it in the elevator so how could this be? As Luna seeks help from her understanding boyfriend, she discovers that her hunch may have been right, but she has no idea what terrors are ahead of her…

Following that announcement, we also go in some new info about the festival itself.

Insomnifest is the first ever online horror film festival and will be broadcasted for the entire world to view over a two week period in February of 2008 at Insomnifest.com. A specific date has yet to be announced. We will be showing twelve horror flicks from all over the world and several of them will be world premieres. The movies will be streamable for $4,99 per ticket.

Check out the trailer below and keep it here for more Insomnifest updates!
