Exclusive: Documentarian Olivia Klaus Talks Life After Manson at Tribeca 2014The 25-minute documentary short Life After Manson premiered during the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival, and with the 45th anniversary of the Manson Family killings having just passed, we thought now was a good time to share our interview with the film’s director, Olivia Klaus.

While attending this year’s TFF in New York City, Dread Central spoke with Klaus about notorious Manson cult member Patricia Krenwinkle, the subject of her latest project.

Synopsis:
In the 25-minute long LIFE AFTER MANSON, documentary filmmaker Olivia Klaus examines former “Manson girl” Patricia Krenwinkle, still struggling with the enormity and meaning of the notorious crimes she participated in committing as part of the criminal cult of the Charles Manson Family nearly 45 years later. This understated study of the real-life consequences of the much-sensationalized crimes focuses on an elderly Krenwinkle seeking some tentative measure of understanding of, if not peace with, the experience of being in thrall to a charismatic, murderous sociopath.

This sensitive exploration of Krenwinkle’s solitary struggle to live with the aftermath of the surrender of her will and of her identity to one of 20th century America’s most infamous figures, and the quiet agony of her journey toward the possibility of some tentative forgiveness of herself, separates this Manson-related documentary from the enormous body of frequently lurid, hysterical Manson films.

Life After Manson is being released in September, and you can pre-order the DVD from LifeAfterManson.com.
