FIFTH ELEMENT’s Tommy Tiny Lister Has Died at 62

Sad news this morning. Tommy “Tiny” Lister has passed away at the age of 62. Police found Lister dead in his apartment on Thursday, just before 3 PM.

Pronounced dead on the scene, cops believe Lister died of natural causes. An autopsy will determine an official cause of death. Law enforcement says he had COVID-19 symptoms. But it hasn’t been confirmed as the cause of death.

His manager, Cindy Cowan, confirmed the news saying: “He was a wonderful guy with a heart of gold. Everyone loved him. A real gentle giant. We’re all devastated.”

He is best known for his role as Debo in F. Gary Gray’s classic comedy Friday with Ice Cube. He reprised the role in Next Friday. Tommy Tiny Lister was also a professional wrestler and wrestled Hulk Hogan in the World Wrestling Federation.

But you might know him best as the President in The Fifth Element. Or as the prisoner with a heart of gold on the boat at the end of The Dark Knight.

Tommy Tiny Lister also starred in classics such as Beverly Hills Cop II, Little Nicky, and Austin Powers in Goldmember. And let’s not forget Tarantino’s Jackie Brown.

His genre credits include Barb Wire, The Meteor Man, Universal Soldier, Trespass, Prison, Wishmaster 2: Evil Never Dies, Vegas Vampires, Hellborn, Dracula 3000, Santa’s Slay, and Tom Six’s The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence).

I remember Tommy Tiny Lister best for the music video for Sublime’s “Santeria.”
