With TIFF 2010 now at a close, it's time for a quick awards round-up for you guys. Pertaining to our beloved genre, we're happy to announce that Jim Mickle’s Stake Land took home the Midnight Madness Audience Award at the show, beating out some pretty tough competition in The Vanishing on 7th Street, Insidious and more. Congrats to Mickle and company!

Things are still cooking over at the Toronto International Film Festival as yet another movie we've been looking forward to for a while now has gotten itself some distro - Adam Wingard's A Horrible Way to Die!

One of the most heartbreaking things about the Toronto International Film Festival was that legendary director John Carpenter ended up missing the premiere of his own film, The Ward, because he was summoned to jury duty here in the States.

Thank the gods for the Toronto International Film Festival! Finally some domestic distribution news has come our way for the upcoming film from acclaimed director Kim Jee-woon starring Oldboy himself, I Saw the Devil.

Everyone at the Toronto International Film Festival has been buzzing about James Wan's Insidious (look for a review soon), and distro has swooped in faster than a pissed off Grim Reaper in Peter Jackson's The Frighteners!

One look at the outstanding trailer for Rare Exports and you know right away that this is either going to be a very unique and special movie or one that cannot possibly live up to its potential. I'm seriously crossing my fingers for latter because the idea of hunting for feral Santas in the snowy wilds of Finland is a genius level of insanity.
