The Scariest Thing Seized by the TSA in 2018 Was a Literal NIGHTMARE (ON ELM STREET)

It’s amazing what people will attempt to smuggle onto airplanes, even in our post-9/11 society. And I’m not just talking about weapons and drugs either. The TSA just released their list of the 10 wackiest things sized by the agency in 2018; USA Today reports the list includes grenades, a mortar round, and even a sack of snakes stashed in a computer CPU.

But the item that toped their list is something most horror fans will get a kick out of: A replica of the razor-fingered glove worn by Freddy Krueger in Wes Craven’s seminal Nightmare on Elm Street franchise! While we’ve got to shake our heads at the audacity of the person who thought it would be appropriate to pack it in a carry-on, some of us kind of get it.

I just figured this guy was on his or her way to a horror convention, one likely featuring cast members from the Nightmare franchise. He or she was probably hoping to bring it home covered with autographs. Instead, it’ll likely remain in a TSA vault somewhere, locked away forever. Which is a shame, because it looks like a high-quality replica.

Better luck next time Mr. or Mrs. Fred-Head!
