The Lovely Bones
There weren't a lot of horror films or TV shows honored during the 36th Annual Saturn Awards, presented last night, June 24th, by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films, but those that were certainly are deserving.

Along with that hilarious propaganda flick we have a plentiful assortment of more serious films that are sure to appeal to DC readers.
While many of you didn't get a chance to check out Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones in theatres thanks to its limited and very odd release, all that's about to change as the flick is gearing up for its home video debut.
It's that time of year again: The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films has announced the nominations for its 36th Annual Saturn Awards.

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards nominations were announced today, and in large part they mirror those who got the nod from the Golden Globes earlier this week. Although whereas the Globes are a robust 67 years old, the SAGs are merely Sweet 16.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominees for its 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards this morning, and while the horror genre was mostly absent from the theatrical categories, it was pretty well represented on the small screen.

Dread Central hit The Lovely Bones press conference in Beverly Hills, CA, where director Peter Jackson, along with the film’s stars Stanley Tucci, Saoirse Ronan, Rose Mclver, Mark Wahlberg, Susan Sarandon and Rachel Weisz, talked up their cinematic incarnation of Alice Sebold’s best-selling novel.
Delivering a screenplay of a novel with such scope and depth was undoubtedly a daunting task, and for the most part the scribes effectively communicated the emotional intricacies of Alice Sebold’s work (although fans of the book will find much of the third-act familial drama gone). This isn’t surprising, though, given the confines of page to screen time.
