The Gate
We've been talking about Alex Winter's proposed 3D remake of The Gate for what feels like forever, right? A show of hands now - how many of you are starting to doubt it'll ever see the light of day? Not sure today's news will make a believer out of you, but it does seem like the project is moving full scream ahead.
We've been talking about Alex Winter's proposed 3D remake of The Gate for what feels like forever now. Will it happen? If so, when? Well, things became a little bit clearer today during an interview with Winter, and we even have a teaser poster to boot!
One remake we're looking forward to that has a really good chance of being good is Alex Winter's redux of The Gate in 3D. If Winter can capture just a fraction of the original film's charm then we're pretty damned golden. Some concept art snuck online today along with a boat load of details about the film.

We have a bumper crop of DVD and Blu-ray releases this week what with Trick 'r Treat FINALLY coming home along with Ghost House Pictures' four-pack of The Thaw, Offspring, Seventh Moon, and The Children. And that's just the beginning!
Ah, Lionsgate. There are days when we just want to kiss you. Today is one of those days. I cannot believe I'm about to write these words ... The Gate, yes you read right, THE GATE, is heading to us on DVD in what is being called a Monstrous Special Edition! And somewhere off in the distance you can hear the faint sounds of angels singing!
Alex Winter’s Freaked remains one of the most amazingly underrated films I’ve ever seen. In fact, I love it so much that it has bought the former Bill & Ted star eternal goodwill in my eyes. Normally I balk at the prospect of horror films of my youth being remade, but you can’t seem to escape that fate these days. And with Alex Winter at the helm, I’m actually looking forward to the updated version of the Tibor Takacs flick The Gate.
Now this is some pretty damn cool news. Production Weekly reported today that Alex Winter (Freaked, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure) is now attached to direct the remake of Tibor Takács’ classic 1987 kids-in-peril movie, The Gate.
It’s been a few months since we’ve heard anything more about The Gate: 20 Years Later, the proposed sequel to the 1987 Tibor Takacs film about kids who open a gate to hell in their backyard. While months of silence are usually normal for a Hollywood production as things fall into place, the news is sadly not good for this particular sequel.
Hey, remember that really cool little flick from 1987 with the kickass claymation monsters and the corpse guy who lived in the wall that starred a baby-faced Stephen Dorff? Well apparently Andras Hamori's H20 Motion Pictures remembers it well as they've just green-lit a sequel!
Oh, man, who wants a remake of The Gate? How could they possibly top the original for pure 80’s fun? Nevertheless it seems like it’s happening, or so say sources at JoBlo this morning.
