Terminator: Salvation

While it's likely a foregone conclusion that Avatar will be taking home the Oscar, the Motion Picture Academy has announced the seven films that will compete in order to become one of three nominess for the Visual Effects Academy Award. And a couple of them are big favorites around the Dread Central offices.

The next step in a totally immersive movie-watching experience is available now as owners of the new Terminator: Salvation Blu-ray are able to participate in the first-ever audio-enabled Live Community Screening (LCS) on Saturday, December 5th, 2009.

A new month; a new batch of DVDs and Blu-rays to consider. We've used the phrase "mixed bag" a few times before this year, but never has it been more apropos than with regard to those discs that are being released on December 1st, 2009!

In a little more than a week from now, the machines will rise and Skynet will begin kicking our collective asses. Good thing we have John Connor on our side to level the playing field a bit. To celebrate the fourth film in the Terminator franchise, Warner Brothers have given us several audio interviews with the cast and crew to share with you guys! Dig it!

The battle to preserve your TIVO, iPhone and XBox 360 has just begun! Rather ... the fight to stop those things from killing you is right around the corner, if scientists are correct. Never the less, Terminator Salvation will be stomping into theaters soon enough and those masters of 12 plastics (Hot Toys, natch) are dishing out another character to join the battle...

Wolverine is in theaters now. Star Trek opened at midnight tonight on the East Coast. We've got more than a couple of summer blockbuster movies to look forward to... And one of them involves the near extinction of the human race at the hands of robots we created!! DAMN YOUUUU SKYNET!!!!

The good folks over at Hot Toys provided us with several images of their latest collectible, Terminator: Salvation 1/6th Scale John Connor, and this thing looks real enough to have a profanity laden meltdown!

Judgement day has come. The machines are in control, and the human race is on the brink of extinction. What better time than this to play video games?!?

Now that we've all seen that sweet new Terminator: Salvation trailer, it's a good bet that all expectations for the film are running pretty high. I know mine are. And what would a blockbuster be without some cool-ass collectible to go along with it?
