Terminator
Well now. This sucks. A bit of bad news for those of you out there like us who were really looking forward to seeing just what Fast Five director Justin Lin could bring to the flailing Terminator franchise ... the director has had to bail on the project.
After the soul-crushing disappointment of the mess that was the last Terminator movie, it's going to take a lot to get fans excited about another entry in the franchise. Ladies and gentlemen ... meet step one in the right direction.
By now everyone knows that Fast Five director Justin Lin is attached to the next Terminator film. What we don't know is where the next sequel/remake/whatever will take us. Although we did get a few possible hints.
We, like many of you, are dying to have that damned crappy taste caused by Terminator: Salvation washed out of our mouths. It's hard not to marvel at the fact that someone greenlit a film in which said Terminators didn't terminate anyone. Hopefully the record will soon be set straight.
When the news broke last week that The Terminator saga was continuing as a 3D PG-13 rated animated film, no one was happy. Especially the fans. It's bad enough that we had to sit through the misery that was Terminator: Salvation in which the Terminators didn't terminate any one, but this proposed animated feature seemed like the worst movie idea in the history of bad movie ideas. Thankfully the project is NOT happening.
Hasn't anyone learned anything from the flaccid Terminator: Salvation? You cannot take decidedly R-rated material, dumb it down with big action sequences to try and hide the fact that said Terminators aren't killing anyone, and expect it to be embraced by the fanbase -- the majority of which are in their thirties or older by now judging from when the original came out.
It's a bloody week of DVD offerings with Blood Ties: The Complete Series, Blood Red Moon, and Blood Forest all hitting store shelves on Tuesday, April 6th. Throw in The Damned, the film adaptation of Stephen King's Dolan's Cadillac, along with some Malpractice and Taxidermia, and we've got one hell of an eclectic mix to choose from.
As our regular readers are no doubt aware, here at Dread Central we're always on the lookout for new and different things to pass on to you guys. Which is why we're happy to share some super cool "minimalist" posters for a few of our favorite TV shows.
One thing I'll never completely understand is TV programming and why some shows make it when others that are just as worthy, if not more so, don't. Case in point: Fox TV's "Dollhouse" and "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles."
With excitement reaching a fever-pitch for Terminator Salvation, it's only fitting that we take a look back at the second biggest film in the franchise, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, which is scoring a Skynet Edition Blu-ray release on May 19th!
The digital world of mobile content got a little bigger and brighter today with the launch of a new app for the iPhone from Dark Horse Comics. With the release of the upcoming Terminator: Salvation in mind, Dark Horse has chosen The Terminator: Death Valley, originally published in 1998, as its debut offering.
Ready to face Judgment Day? No? Well maybe you need some prep! These new Terminator collectibles should do the trick for all of you budding John Connors out there! All you need now is the Christian Bale sound board, and you are set!
The show may be over, but that just gives us some time to start getting up the boatload of pictures we have for ya! Speaking of boatloads, Terminator fans will have lots to smile about as we have a look at three different sets of collectibles from three different companies!
With
Terminator Salvation hype hitting the fast track we knew it wouldn't be long before the parade of toys started hitting shelves, because you know, who doesn't want to have their own robot apocalypse in the comfort of their own home?
