Albert Pyun's long gestating Tales of an Ancient Empire has been picked up for distribution by Liongate, but apparently the version we'll all be able to see starting January 24th isn't exactly the director's own vision for the film so he's decided to release the first 18 minutes of his cut for comparison's sake. Director Albert Pyun sent us over a peek at some new teaser art for his forthcoming Tales of an Ancient Empire featuring its newest co-star, Victoria Maurette, who portrays a daywalking vampire assassin in the film.

Tales of an Ancient Empire just got a huge dose of badassedness in the form of a female daywalking vampire assassin to be portrayed by Victoria Maurette. Maurette joins the film's previously announced cast that includes Christopher Lambert, Melissa Ordway, Kevin Sorbo, Lee Horsley, and Jennifer Siebel Newsom.

Things have been quiet for the last couple of months regarding Tales of an Ancient Empire, but this weekend we got word from director Albert Pyun that not only is his cast expanding, but he's also close to sealing a deal on the film's North American distribution.

A demon sorceress and her vampires ... heroes ... villains. Plus gore, blood, and naked damsels. A typical weekend in DC's offices? Maybe, but it's also what we were promised by Albert Pyun as filming of his Sword and the Sorcerer follow-up, Tales of an Ancient Empire, progressed. Last we heard of the production, they were "almost at the stretch run" and awaiting Christopher Lambert's arrival to shoot the finishing shots.
