The screenwriter behind the upcoming Tom Cruise film Valkyrie, Christopher McQuarie, has signed on with United Artist to pen the script from Monster of Florence according to this morning’s Variety.

Douglas Preston and Mario Spezi’s best-selling serial killer novel The Monster of Florence has been picked up for a filmed adaptation by Tom Cruise and United Artists, according to Variety. Cruise will produce and possibly star in the film.

Well, this is interesting ... The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Timothy J. Sexton, best known for his Children of Men screenplay, has been brought on board by United Artists to pen the English-language remake of Timecrimes. Guess I spoke too soon about the lack of remake news today, eh?
