Jason Voorhees
NECA has been fulfilling dreams for some time now, and if you think that sentiment is silly, you are NOT a hardcore horror fan! What other company would do the leads from Lost Boys, Robocop, the first Terminator AND an entire line of Gremlins in both cute 'n fuzzy and mean 'n scary forms?!
Though Friday the 13th has come and gone, here's a new look at two of the franchise's titular killer - one from NECA, who teased just the head of its new Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter Voorhees collectible, and the other from Derek Mears, who played the big man himself in the Friday remake. Check 'em out!
B-Sides is arriving a little early this weekend because there’s no way I’m letting Friday the 13th pass without having a musical interlude in honor of Mr. Voorhees. The theme song to Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning may not have been written specifically for the film, but if ever there was a man with no life in his eyes, it’s Jason.
Jason Voorhees is a household name, there’s no arguing. Everyone may be familiar with the summer camp slasher’s iconic look as far as the hockey mask goes, but it’s a lot harder to find a definitive consensus on Mr. Voorhees’ most successful incarnation. It changes as often as the weather, and much more dramatically, to boot.
If you're not familiar with the Beat Down Boogie crew, they are a bunch of guerilla filmmakers who have one simple goal in mind: entertain the viewer. Although they normally operate in action-themed films, the crew does not classify itself, thus, the freedom to make this latest release. In honor of Halloween the Beat Down Boogie crew have re-envisioned the Jason Voorhees vs. Freddy Krueger battle with their latest short, Freddy vs. Jason: The Rematch.
You know a horror character has truly achieved iconic status when his likeness has become a staple of Halloween costuming and he gets mainstream musical acts singing songs about him. Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees both achieved that status back in the latter half of the 80’s, and they did it with a little help from The Fat Boys and Alice Cooper.
This morning we, like many of you, ran to our Xbox consoles and popped in Mortal Kombat to play and see just how well Freddy Krueger has been integrated into the game. The words "Flawless Victory" come to mind.
A few months ago we reported on a rumor that both Freddy and Jason would be making their way to the latest Mortal Kombat game. Today confirmation has come that at least one of them is definitely joining the fray!
We try really -- really -- hard not to report on rumors, because if we did we'd never stop updating and we don't want you guys to have to sift through all the bullshit just to find the cold hard facts. However ... this latest rumor? Too tasty to not entertain.
Super7 has announced the launch of a new t-shirt that should appeal to Friday the 13th fans. It's a typography graphic that forms the iconic hockey mask of Jason Voorhees, and all of the text within the image is comprised of the first name of each of Jason’s victims.
Can it be that the celluloid gods have heard my embittered pleas and taken action? Is it true that Platinum Dunes has left the Friday the 13th franchise behind after one shockingly awful entry that missed the point entirely? Right now all signs are pointing to 'yes'.
I don't know about your house, but ours is full of horror collectibles, and even so we're always on the lookout for new additions. Hell, we've got at least half a dozen Jason Voorheeses alone ... but there's always room for one more. And thanks to Sideshow Collectibles we'll soon have a new Premium Format Figure from Friday the 13th Part 3 to bring home. Read on for a sneak peek.
The wondrous thing about comics is that they can literally do anything and go anywhere. There have been many crossover projects over the years in the illustrated world, but this latest one will own the hearts of horror fans everywhere ... even if it is just a single page.
So, how did Platinum Dunes' revamped Freddy do on opening day at the box office compared to their 2009 version of Jason? It turns out he trounced the competition but couldn't quite top the numbers posted by PD's Friday the 13th redux.
Well, folks ... I made up my mind some time ago that Mr. James Coker won our weird
retrospective contest. His unbridled enthusiasm – as evidenced by good usage of caps lock and exclamation points – charmed me in a way too profound to deny him an in-depth look back at Night of the Demon, an ugly and gruesome Bigfoot flick from 1980.
