Event Report

Dread Central attended the red carpet premiere of Universal Pictures’ The Wolfman redux earlier this evening at the Arclight in Hollywood, CA, and brought back a handful of pics of the event as well as having an opportunity to chat with the film’s screenwriter, David Self, and F/X man Rick Baker.

From August 16th through August 31st, LA-area horror fiends can stop by the Hyaena Gallery (1928 W. Olive, Burbank) and check out some of the amazing work done by artist Jeremy Cross.

The date is the 31st of May, 2009. Let me just say this first and foremost; I go to a shit ton of conventions. Shit ton as in a whole lot of conventions. And believe it or not, I've never done a write-up on any of them. I've filmed plenty of videos at conventions and talked about them on podcasts and what have you, but never written an article about one.

Horror fiends were out in full force when the Fangoria Weekend of Horrors convention stormed the Los Angeles Convention Center this past weekend. As usual, Fango gave genre fans a lot to keep them busy over the three-day event.

So the 5th annual Rock and Shock convention in Worcester, MA has come and gone and I have to say, this show keeps getting better and better as its reputation grows and word spreads about it.

Halloween is almost here! Sure, everyone loves junk food and horror movie marathons, but there's one thing we at Dread Central crave more than anything: The wonderful world of haunted mazes!

Man, I really dig this show. Yeah, it takes me between six and nine hours to get there and back, which means I really need to start going down a day early, but it’s worth it to hang out at one of the best-run and most well-attended conventions on the East Coast.

I'll never forget my first time, man. I was barely a teenager. After what (even at that young age) seemed like years of anticipation, the time had come for me to become a man.

On Thursday, April 24th, hordes of people (both living and undead) gathered outdoors for a special screening of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” courtesy of the Tribeca Film Fest Drive-In series.

I missed the whole thing, something I’m kicking myself for now, but I hear the Fright Night panel at Fear Fest 2 was, in a word, epic.

I’m not exaggerating when I say that Monster-Mania is one of the best run convention series in the world. I feel that since I cover around 8 conventions a year, I’m qualified to say this! At every show I like to talk to vendors and celebs alike to see who is doing well and what their experiences are like. It’s the suit in me.

Numerous sci-fi TV shows have been given their own conventions, but the same can't be said for their horror cousins.

Things started off badly. Flights were canceled. Dallas was snowed in. There was so much more to do and no way to get it done. Sometimes it feels as if every force in the universe is aligned against you. But there's a job to get done. Thousands of fans were lining up for a fun weekend, and by hook or by crook they were going to get it. Besides, we had some serious partying to do, and nothing was going to get in the way of that!
