Freddy Krueger
If you're not familiar with the Beat Down Boogie crew, they are a bunch of guerilla filmmakers who have one simple goal in mind: entertain the viewer. Although they normally operate in action-themed films, the crew does not classify itself, thus, the freedom to make this latest release. In honor of Halloween the Beat Down Boogie crew have re-envisioned the Jason Voorhees vs. Freddy Krueger battle with their latest short, Freddy vs. Jason: The Rematch.
You know a horror character has truly achieved iconic status when his likeness has become a staple of Halloween costuming and he gets mainstream musical acts singing songs about him. Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees both achieved that status back in the latter half of the 80’s, and they did it with a little help from The Fat Boys and Alice Cooper.
This morning we, like many of you, ran to our Xbox consoles and popped in Mortal Kombat to play and see just how well Freddy Krueger has been integrated into the game. The words "Flawless Victory" come to mind.
A few months ago we reported on a rumor that both Freddy and Jason would be making their way to the latest Mortal Kombat game. Today confirmation has come that at least one of them is definitely joining the fray!
Day One of the San Diego Comic-Con is just about over, and before we let you go, we have some more random imagery of things you're going to love! Sit back and get out a tissue to wipe away the drool!
We try really -- really -- hard not to report on rumors, because if we did we'd never stop updating and we don't want you guys to have to sift through all the bullshit just to find the cold hard facts. However ... this latest rumor? Too tasty to not entertain.
Over the years NECA Toys has delivered the goods on a constant basis. At this year's Toy Fair they introduced a trio of new Freddy figures from the classic A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise that showcased some of their best work with the character to date. Now comes the fourth and, dare we say it, the best.
DC briefly caught up with Robert Englund today to chat about his plans for Halloween, and yup, the great gloved one is planning on taking it kinda easy this year with a stack of movies and a case of Hornitos Tequila that the company recently sent along to him.
One two ... the remake is coming for you! That's right, kids! Pull those covers up tight because Sam Bayer's 2010 remake of the Wes Craven classic A Nightmare on Elm Street is getting ready to hit Blu-ray and DVD! How about a hi-def copy on us?
This week's video pulls off the rare double whammy of WTF-ness. As if a music video showcasing the pro wrestling career of a guy who wrestled back in the early Nineties dressed like Freddy Krueger wasn't strange enough, the absurd song accompanying the video of Freddy going buck wild in a wrestling ring is a novelty song called "Do The Freddy" featuring cackling by Robert Englund himself.
Just when I'd finished washing the taste of the wholly rancid A Nightmare on Elm Street remake from my mouth, our friends at Warner Bros. go and set a home video date for the 2010 retelling of Freddy Krueger's first stab at Elm Street's children.
So, how did Platinum Dunes' revamped Freddy do on opening day at the box office compared to their 2009 version of Jason? It turns out he trounced the competition but couldn't quite top the numbers posted by PD's Friday the 13th redux.
Since the new Nightmare on Elm Street is hitting the screen soon, I thought I would do something a little different for you guys. I spent a few hours digging up some images inspired by our favorite dream demon.
What would Jason be without his machete? Michael without his butcher knife? Pinhead without his numerous implements of torture? Probably okay, but Freddy? He just wouldn't be the same without his trademark glove!
