Are you all caught up on the very cool Trick 'r Treat shorts FEARnet has been putting out over the past several months? In honor of the Halloween holiday and the all-day Trick 'r Treat marathon they'll be running on the 31st, the network has released four more new videos entitled Trick 'r Treat: 4 Rules. In addition they've made a huge announcement about FEARnet's slate of Halloween and year-round programing initiatives that are sure to satisfy horror fans' thirst for genre content through 2012.

Trick 'r Treat, better known as one of the biggest missed opportunities a studio has ever experienced (seriously, what were you thinking, Warner Bros.?) is a damned fine film that showcases one of the best horror characters to come about in ages.
Remember back on April 1st when we did a news story about the possibility of everyone's favorite lovable Halloween demon Sam from Trick 'r Treat making a return for more terror? You thought we were joking. Well apparently ... we weren't.
If you've never indulged in the absolute goodness that is Mike Dougherty's incredible anthology film Trick 'r Treat do yourself a favor - stop what you're doing go immediately to the story and buy a copy like yesterday. The first whisper of a sequel hit online today and we have the details for you.
It’s ironic. The profession of horror journalism (or horror literature of filmmaking for that matter), at least for this writer, was initially and unsurprisingly inspired by my love of all things Halloween; yet, the subsequent October workload which has resulted often forces me to miss the simple trappings that launched my macabre interest in the first place.

I gotta say Dave Parker's The Hills Run Red having watched it a second time is really starting to grow on me. Trick 'r Treat, on the other hand, knocked me flat from the first frame, and I'm already planning to curl up with the Blu-ray again. We have a bumper crop of DVD and Blu-ray releases this week what with Trick 'r Treat FINALLY coming home along with Ghost House Pictures' four-pack of The Thaw, Offspring, Seventh Moon, and The Children. And that's just the beginning!
