H.P. Lovecraft
Who knew fighting off an invading demonic force during the middle of World War I could be fun? Red Wasp Design released its new title Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land today for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch; and it allows you to do just that.
Ever have one of those moments in which you see a trailer and then for the rest of the day it became seared into your brain and you couldn't stop thinking about it? Yeah, this is one of those times for us, it and could be for you, too, once you've seen the concept trailer for III.
In the description of The Whisperer in Darkness on the Fantasia Film Festival website, the claim is made that the film "very well may be the single most successful H.P. Lovecraft adaptation ever to lick fear across a screen." High praise indeed! Read on to see if Trembles agrees with it.
The schedules for the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con Preview Night and Day 1 (July 20 and July 21) are now live, and we have the horror highlights for you here (along with a few panels of general interest). As always, though, be sure to check the official SDCC site for updates, and we also recommend downloading the SDCC app if you have a smart phone.
You may remember from back in November, 2009 an anthology series called As Darkness Falls created by John Alsedek. It has been picked up for distribution by publisher Speaking Volumes, but that's just the beginning. Now Alsedek is taking aim at the TV market with three different series currently being pitched, all of which would be filmed in high contrast black & white.
Famous Monsters of Filmland has announced a change in date and venue for its first annual Imagi-Movies Film Festival. The three-day event will be held at the Laemmle Music Hall in Beverly Hills, CA, located at 9036 Wilshire Blvd., from April 8-10, 2011, celebrating the legacy of Forrest J Ackerman, America's #1 sci-fi fan.
From the Press Release:
With every day that passes we find ourselves praying just a little bit more to the horror gods that Guillermo del Toro's adaptation of At the Mountains of Madness happens ASAP. Tonight the director spoke a bit about whom he'd like to see in the leading role.
James Cameron, Guillermo del Toro, and H.P. Lovecraft. Can you think of three names that sound better together? We can't and now thanks to some exciting new developments we might just be seeing del Toro's 3D adaptation of the Lovecraft tale for Universal sooner than we thought!
H.P. Lovecraft had one of the single most insane imaginations that has ever been instilled in a mortal man, and as a result his writings have remained as horrific, visceral, and relevant as when he first put pen to paper. We like to think even he himself would approve of this latest collectible that's hitting the market. Are you guys ready to come face to claw with Dagon?
Here around the Dread Central offices we're always on the lookout for interesting short and/or indie projects so we were more than a little intrigued by the note in our inbox from Steve Daniels touting his Southern Lovecraftian film "Dirt Dauber". Check out the trailer he provided, and see if you agree with us that it seems to hold more than a little promise.
It's been quite some time since we first ran a story about an in-the-works adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's The Whisperer in Darkness
(check it out here), and today we’re finally ready to post a follow-up. What the hell took so long, you ask? Read on to find out.
With all the nonsense swirling about on other sites about casting, start dates, etc., it's hard to know exactly what's true and what's not. Do we cover it? Should we cover it? We've consumed a ton of aspirin over the last week as a result. I can tell you that this will be the final mention of Re-Animator 3D here until someone signs a damned contract.
Just about a week ago we told you about an interview in which producer Ray Haboush spoke about a supposed
Re-Animator redux in 3D. Now we are here to tell you that it all could have been a load of crap.
Most of us are fans of the film Re-Animator, and honestly, if you're not, I really have to wonder what the hell you're doing here. Suffice it to say that if the visage of a head giving head doesn't instantly bring a smile to your face, then you should be surfing elsewhere. Well, after countless stories about the next chapter, we finally have some news that seems concrete.
The guys over at
IGN just got a first look at a new game that I’m sure will appeal to horror fans, and if it doesn’t ... well, you’re just a poseur then. POSEUR!
The game is called NecroVisioN (not sure if that last “N” needs to be capitalized or not, but that’s how they have it…), and it comes to us from The Farm 51st. What is it? Glad you asked!
