As I still recover from the profound disappointment that was Creature, at least I can count on The Asylum to bring a smile to my face as I feast my eyes on all the giddy rubber shark goodness in these first production stills from 2 Headed Shark Attack.

Carmen Electra has survived being married to Dennis Rodman. Brooke Hogan has survived being Hulk Hogan’s daughter. Charlie O’Connell has survived being “The Bachelor”. But can they survive The Asylum’s 2 Headed Shark Attack?

The Asylum has actually been on a roll lately with the wonderfully ludicrous 2012: Ice Age and the surprisingly decent Born Bad. Will the streak continue with a 3D ghost flick, more monster sharks, and a mockbuster with the exact same title as its theatrical counterpart?

Last week I brought you word of The Asylum's marvelous mockbuster Almighty Thor that you may or may not have missed as it was on a day when there was a mad crush of movie news. Now The Asylum has posted the first pics from the set, and it's quite apparent we are in for something truly special one way or another.

Marvel's Thor may have Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins as Odin, but could Hopkins powerbomb a guy through a table like pro wrestler "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash, who will be playing the ruler of Asgard in The Asylum's mockbuster Almighty Thor? Advantage: The Asylum.

Introducing first, in the blue corner, the reigning undefeated champion of the seas - Mega Shark! His opponent, the challenger, making his professional fighting debut, the crocodilian villain - Crocosaurus! Your special guest referee for this main event is Jaleel "Urkel" White. Leeeeeet's get reeeeeeady to ruuuuuumble!

Not content to just have in production Mega Python vs. Gatoroid starring Eighties pop princesses Debbie Gibson and Tiffany, The Asylum is also pressing forward with Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus, and this time their stunt casting dips into 1990's pop culture with the announcement it will star none other than Jaleel White, best known to fans of "Family Matters" as that lovable nerd Steve Urkel.

It was back in early February that I first reported on Reptisaurus, a low budget creature feature loosely based on an old Charlton Comics' comic book title from the early 1960's. The movie from director Chris Ray (son of Fred Olen Ray) and co-starring former TV "Buck Rogers" Gil Gerard tells the simple tale of a group of soldiers on an island that find themselves at the mercy of a flying reptilian monster.

You know giant monster movies are getting to be back in vogue when an obscure 40-year old monster comic is getting dusted off as the basis for a brand new creature feature. Don't feel bad if you've never before heard of Reptisaurus because the monster was the subject of a short-lived Silver Age comic published by the long defunct Charlton Comics back in the hay day of giant Japanese monster movies. The comic only ran for seven issues from 1962-1963. I'd say that's pretty darn obscure.
