Jennifer's Body
The nominees for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards have been announced, and shock of the century! The Twilight Saga: New Moon did not garner the most nominations. That honor went to The Hangover, but New Moon does boast a respectable five nominations. In addition, MTV has created a new category that should appeal to horror fans: Best Scared-as-Shit Performance.
It was last February when we first heard that Diablo Cody would be producing the film version of S.G. Browne's debut novel, Breathers: A Zombie’s Lament, and finally she provided an update on the project this weekend during Showtime's presentation to the Television Critics Association (for her United States of Tara).
It's the last week of 2009, and there's a surprisingly rich assortment of DVDs and Blu-rays hitting store shelves on Tuesday, December 29th. From Shane Acker's magical 9 to Megan Fox's portrayal of Jennifer and her magical Body, there's a little something for everyone, including a Getaway with the almost Perfect Milla Jovovich.
In celebration of the DVD and Blu-ray release of Jennifer's Body, we've landed an exclusive look from one of the package's behind-the-scenes featurettes for you! Dig it!
Jennifer's Body Synopsis
This past fall saw the debut of the supernatural horror/comedy Jennifer’s Body, and with the film's Blu-ray and DVD release being only a few weeks away (December 29th), I thought it might be interesting to take a look back at some of the most successful high school horror films that have been released over the past 10 to 15 years.
Along with its star Megan Fox and its distributor 20th Century Fox, Jennifer's Body can add another "fox" to its stable: something called FoxPop, which enables viewers of select DVDs and Blu-rays to use their iPhone or computer to create a personalized, social, and interactive entertainment experience.
Just the other day we got a look at the cover art for the December 29th DVD and Blu-ray release of Jennifer's Body, and now we have the specs to go along with it!
While no specific details are known as to what will be coming home with Megan Fox's demonic box office underachiever Jennifer's Body, the upcoming DVD artwork for the film's tentatively dated December 29th "unrated" DVD and Blu-ray release has shown up online. Will it give you a wetty? Whatever the hell that means?
Poor Amanda Seyfried. Not only does she have to play second fiddle to the undeniably inferior (acting-wise) Megan Fox in Jennifer's Body, but the new UK quad poster for the flick shows her in the most unflattering light possible. Something tells me, however, that the "Big Love" star will rebound just fine. Ms. Fox and Ms. Cody, on the other hand...
Proving unequivocally that yes, female filmmakers (even one who's won an Oscar!) can make just as crappy a movie as their male counterparts can, Jennifer's Body (review here) tanked at the box office, coming in a mere fifth place with a measly $6.8 million (estimated).
Dread Central (in this case Dread scribes Heather Wixson and myself) hit the red carpet for the premiere of Fox’s Jennifer’s Body (review here) last night at the Hollywood & Highland complex in Hollywood, CA, and brought back some ocular candy as well as a handful of video interviews from the rather cramped carpet, which you can see below.
The Toronto International Film Festival '09 is in full swing, and you'll be happy to know that Dread Central has partnered with the fine folks over at The Substream to bring you daily video coverage of the event that will feature news, interviews, and maybe even a couple of reviews here and there.
