"X-Files" fans, we have some good news. Hollywood will never make another crappy X-Files movie ever again! Okay, so we really can't guarantee that, but we can tell you that series creator Chris Carter is back with a whole new bag of tricks!

Finally, the movie you’ve all been waiting for is coming home! Fox has announced a December 2nd release date for the new classic X-Files: I Want to Believe (review) on both standard and Blu-ray DVD! All right, just a bit of sarcasm in there, sorry.

**UPDATE: Frank Spotnitz has "debunked" this rumor already in his official blog. All well and fine; just keep in mind these haven't been the most revealing of creative teams in the history of entertainment...**

Love it or hate it, The X-Files was a cultural milestone that brought horror back in a big way. Like the rest of America, I went through the mid-Nineties completely addicted and eagerly anticipated the Friday night paranoia of agents Mulder and Scully. But following the departure of writers Glen Morgan & James Wong and the first big screen movie, the show took a creative nosedive and slowly burnt out through season after season of bad story arcs. Now, seven years later, The X-Files: I Want To Believe hopes to reignite the glory days for a whole new generation.

Though I still will hold on tightly to my lack of caring about anything X-Files, especially when the sequel got one of the most idiotic subtitles I’ve ever heard (I Want to Believe, in case you missed it), I know you guys will probably eat this up.

I still can’t bring myself to care too much about the upcoming X-Files 2, but I know you guys do and I’m here to serve.

I didn’t want to care about the new X-Files movie, no matter how many people told me “but, it’s got monsters”; I just didn’t want to care. Mainly because I never liked the show (please hold the stoning until after the article) and the whole thing smacks of desperation on the part of once-wunderkind Chris Carter.
