Mumblecore Thriller Are You Scared Yet? Begins Production Next Year

Full disclosure: I’ve always heard the term “mumblecore” kicked around by various film aficionados, but I never really knew what it was all about. After a quick Google search and about 15 minutes (give or take) of intense reading, I now believe I’m knowledgeable enough to properly write this article without feeling out of my depth, which generally helps when you’re writing, well, anything.
According to Wikipedia, mumblecore is “characterized by low budget production values and amateur actors, heavily focused on naturalistic dialogue.” Some of these elements may show up when filmmakers Rob Jacobs and Dane Millerd join forces for the suspense thriller Are You Scared Yet?
Sharry Flaherty and the folks at Dark Water Productions, who are teaming up with Jacobs and Millerd for the project, are deeply impressed with the story they’ve cooked up, saying, “It is taut and creepy, and we can’t wait to start production on it with the Bohem Media guys!”
According to the official synopsis, Are You Scared Yet? will explore “the lives of Tom and Kat, whose troubled marriage has reached the breaking point when Kat discovers Tom’s infidelity while their son, Jonah, is on a school field trip. Little do they both know that a terrible twosome known as the Knockturnals have been watching them for weeks, waiting in the wings to invade their home and their lives. What Tom and Kat don’t know is why the Knockturnals have infiltrated their private lives, nor do they have any inkling of their real, gruesome intentions.”
If everything goes according to plan, Are You Scared Yet? will begin filming in the Nevada desert early next year. We’ll definitely keep our eyes peeled for this one.
