Weep For The New THE CURSE OF LA LLORANA Trailer!

A brand new trailer has been released for Warner Bros. upcoming horror film The Curse of La Llorona. The feature is based on the Latin American folklore legend about a weeping woman who lost her children. Her cries are said to bring misfortune to those who hear her or who are unlucky enough to be nearby.

La Llorona. The Weeping Woman. A horrifying apparition, caught between Heaven and Hell, trapped in a terrible fate sealed by her own hand. The mere mention of her name has struck terror around the world for generations.

In life, she drowned her children in a jealous rage, throwing herself in the churning river after them as she wept in pain.

Now her tears are eternal. They are lethal, and those who hear her death call in the night are doomed. La Llorona creeps in the shadows and preys on the children, desperate to replace her own. As the centuries have passed, her desire has grown more voracious … and her methods more terrifying.

Michael Chaves makes his directorial debut with the film, which is produced by Emile Gladstone, Gary Dauberman, and James Wan and written by Mikki Daughtry & Tobias Iaconis. It stars Linda Cardellin, Raymond Cruz, Patricia Velasquez, and Marisol Ramirez.

The Curse of La Llorona comes to theaters on April 19.

Side note: an interesting hypothesis has been raised about this myth. Apparently, the regions where this urban legend is most prevalent just so happens to be where there are a lot of mountain lions, whose, “… blood-curdling mating call has been likened to a woman’s scream.” This passage supposedly appears in the Audubon Field Guide.
