You asked for more horrific indie shorts, and we heard you. Rafael De Leon, Jr., has submitted for your entertainment his five-minute short film entitled Waffle. So what exactly can you do with just five minutes? Come on in and let Waffle show you how quickly things can go from bad to… oh shit!

Officially selected to over 30 film festivals, including SXSW and Fantasia International Film Festival, Waffle is obviously a slick piece of filmmaking created by a skilled director. In addition to helming the film, De Leon, Jr., also wrote and scored the piece. Waffle stars Andrea Shannon Young as the disfigured Wendy (I don’t know about you, but the word “disfigured” in a description always gets my interest piqued!) with Kathryn Neville Brown as Wendy’s mother and Kerri Ford as Dana, the girl who finds out cheating to win the science fair isn’t a good idea.

I can pretty much guarantee you this will be the best five minutes of entertainment you’ll see all day. Although the title sounds a bit silly, there’s nothing funny about this one. The film generates some real tension in a very short time and gives the audience a nice payoff as well. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

For more on the film, visit the official Waffle website, check out the Waffle film blog for the latest up-to-the minute info on the short, and of course you can head over and give them a “like” at the Waffle Facebook page.

Synopsis
A disfigured science fair champion invites her new friend over for dinner, but by the time dessert comes around, the two schoolmates will discover each other’s true unpleasant natures.
