Found Footage Flick Upper Lands DistributionWay back in 2011, the bizarre story broke that Quentin Tarantino had purchased video footage of a young girl overdosing on drugs. Word was that Tarantino was going to release all of the footage as a movie, which was to be titled Upper.

Apparently Tarantino got cold feet about the whole thing, and it’s been well over a year since we’ve heard anything about the footage that allegedly captured a young girl’s death on film. Was the footage even real? Or just another found footage hoax? And if it was real, why the hell would Tarantino want to release it to the world with his name attached to it?

These are the questions that have been left unanswered for years now. But we will soon be able to view the footage for ourselves, as we’ve just learned that Upper has struck a unique distribution deal.

Beginning in November, Upper will be available for viewing through OnlineTheatrical.com, a service that makes films available for instant viewing for a limited period of time. The film will have a three-week run on the website, kicking off on November 21st, and it will only be shown at midnight in every US time zone. A bizarre release which seems rather fitting for such a bizarre story.

Synopsis
Upper is the first film experience of its kind. The film is an edited version of 393 minutes of recovered footage documenting a young girl’s tragic overdose death and the subsequent cover-up by a group of affluent socialites. What started as a blackmail plot played out over YouTube became Hollywood’s biggest drug scandal, turned into a heavily controversial film property that was rumored to be held by some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Now, after playing itself out in the media for three years, it is finally making its way to the public.
