Scott Cawthon Announces Five Nights at Freddy’s Movie Has a Script and Starts Filming Next Year

Today Scott Cawthon took to the Five Nights at Freddy’s subreddit to announce that he had “bad news” about the upcoming movie. The news ended up being that he was no longer making scripts for the movie, because he finally had one that he liked.

The post, meant as a rather humorous bait and switch, goes over nine different scripts that he ultimately chose not to use. They range wildly in both tone and style. One involved the discovery that the pizza company was secretly making animatronics for the government. Another involved a group of ghost hunters wandering into the restaurant at night. One was simply an adaption of one of the Five Nights at Freddy’s books. There is one simply named the “plushies take Manhatten” screenplay, which is also both the only description and problem with it.

The final screenplay is called “Mike”, and Scott doesn’t go too deep into details on it, other than saying it takes the best parts of the other nine screenplays. Scott then reveals the “bad news” is that he won’t be making any more screenplays, as this is the screenplay he’ll be working on. He also notes that filming will start in the spring. It’s certainly better than the assumed bad news, which is that the movie was canceled.

While it may be a while before we can see the finished film, you can always start nabbing Five Nights at Freddy’s games on Steam.
