Rick and Morty Studio Starburns Industries Publishing Illustrated Dark Fantasy Novel The Crawling King

Like everyone else in the world, I’m hooked on Adult Swim’s brilliant show “Rick and Morty.” Starburns Industries, one of the studios involved with the hit show that also worked on the Oscar-nominated film Anomalisa, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to secure finds to publish a fully illustrated dark fantasy novel called The Crawling King.

Written by award-winning Einar Baldvin, the 182-page novel will be presented in the form of an epistolary, meaning that it will be consist of a series of manuscripts and documents rather than following a traditional narrative. The Kickstarter page features a huge selection of beatifically macabre artwork from the book, which you can admire below.

The Crawling King is a 182-page fully illustrated dark fantasy novel by award-winning independent animator Einar Baldvin. The book is published by Starburns Industries, the studio behind the Oscar-nominated film Anomalisa and the animated hit show “Rick and Morty.”

Fully drawn, inked, painted, and written by hand, the novel is a collection of stories from the doomed city of Gyldenbrae and the surrounding countryside. Presented in the form of legends, fables, manuscripts, first-hand accounts, and historical documents, The Crawling King invites readers to delve into the dark ruins of a world consumed.
