Guillermo del Toro Praises Prestige Netflix Thriller as “Clockwork precise and fun”

Guillermo del Toro is an auteur filmmaker with a visionary style that makes his output immediately recognizable. He has been behind some of the most celebrated films of the 21st century. So, when the prolific creator takes time to champion the work of a fellow filmmaker, you’d better believe we are all ears.
Today, we are back with another recommendation from the master. And this time, the suggestion is helmed by a fellow purveyor of iconic genre fare. Specifically, we are talking about the latest offering from David Fincher, The Killer.
Guillermo del Toro recently made time to check out The Killer (which is now available on Netflix) and took to Twitter to share his enthusiastic response to the film.

“The Killer is a beautiful Bronson movie if penned by Sartre and filmed by Melville with the briskness of a Siegel. I simply love, love, love when Fincher swings with a mean genre beat. Nimble and clockwork precise and fun. The breeziest film I have seen in a long time. It’s great when you can see a film and a movie at the same time.”
The Killer stars Michael Fassbender, Tilda Swinton, Charles Parnell, and Arliss Howard. The screenplay is penned by Alexis Nolent, Luc Jacamon, and Andrew Kevin Walker.
