Rest in Peace Pete PostlethwaiteAnother Oscar nominated actor and genre favorite is no longer with us, and though he’s been taken from this world at an all too young age, he’s left behind one hell of a film legacy.

Pete Postlethwaite passed away in a Shropshire, England, hospital Sunday after a lengthy fight with cancer at age 64. The man knew how to do a lot with even the smallest of roles and had a face that you simply cannot forget. You may not know his name, but we can assure you, you’re more than familiar with his work.

Nominated for an Oscar for his role as the father of Daniel Day-Lewis’s character in the 1993 film In the Name of the Father, Postlethwaite graced our genre many times with roles in The Omen, Clash of the Titans, Dark Water, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, AlienĀ³, and many, many more.

We here at Dread Central would like to take this time to offer our sincerest of condolences to Pete’s friends, family, and constituents. Till we meet again, sir, thanks for the memories.
