‘Paranormal Activity 7’: New Movie and Documentary Arrive This Halloween

It’s no secret that there has been a reboot of the Paranormal Activity franchise in the works for some time now. That said, not much was known about the forthcoming film until recently. We now have word that the all-new movie is landing on Paramount+ in time for Halloween!
Not only is new film dropping, but so is a Paranormal Activity documentary for your nerves. During a recent TCA event, the CPO of ViacomCBS Streaming dropped the news about both new Paramount+ titles. Tanya Ghailes shared the following:
“A new Paranormal Activity from Paramount Players should bring fans an unexpected reimagining of the beloved horror franchise — We’ll also be launching a documentary on the making of the Paranormal Activity feature. Both of which will be coming to the service in time for Halloween.”
Horror mainstay Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) will be writing the new film which is helmed by William Eubank. On-screen talent for the seventh feature includes Emily Bader (TV’s Charmed), Roland Buck III (TV’s Better Call Saul), and Henry Ayers-Brown (TV’s Blacklist).
The OG Paranormal Activity arrived in 2009 and truly shocked the world with its lo-fi scares. You can pretend to be brave now, but in 2009 you were as freaked out as the rest of us. This modern franchise has left an inarguable impact on horror and pop culture in general, practically inventing the modern Blumhouse business model. A proper documentary spanning the effect of the Paranormal Activity franchise is a great idea and I’m almost more excited for that title than the supposed “reboot”.
On that note, do you think Paramount will give the new film a subtitle? Is it too soon to release a new film literally titled Paranormal Activity? Halloween 2007 has entered the chat.
