Trailer for London’s Cine-Excess Festival and Conference Promises Cult DelightsUK lovers of all things cult cinema would do well to mark May 24–26 on their calendars as the Cine-Excess International Film Festival and Conference returns for a sixth year of screenings and discussion regarding all things pulp and cult.

Events will take place at London’s Odeon Cinema, Covent Garden, and The Italian Cultural Institute. To give an idea of the goodies and guests in store, the folks behind the festival have also released a tantalising trailer to which we have the key…

About Cine-Excess:
Cine-Excess VI is an annual international film festival and conference which attracts global filmmakers, scholars, distributors, and exhibitors to an event which features filmmaker discussions, a themed 3-day conference, and 5 to 7 UK theatrical premieres/exclusive screenings. Cine-Excess is open to the public, who can book either screening delegate passes for individual films or full delegate passes for the conference, lunches, and all Cine-Excess screenings.

Cine-Excess VI focuses on global adaptations of cult narratives, genres, themes, and icons across a broad range of media and fiction formats. From pulp novels into pulp horror films and recent big budget blockbuster remakes of marginal midnight movies to nationally defined interpretations of the pre-established extreme, the cult image remains a fascinating index of adaptation, whose wide array of remakes, renditions, and realisations frequently reveals fascinating issues of nation and narrative as well cultural, regional, and historical distinction.

This year’s special guests include directors Enzo G. Castellari (Inglourious Basterds, Bronx Warriors) and Sergio Martino (Torso, Your Vice Is a Locked Door and Only I Have the Key), and there will be screenings of the aforementioned Bronx Warriors, Keoma, All the Colours of the Dark, the premiere of Julian Richards’ (The Last Horror Movie) new film Shiver and much, much more.
